The Vera Playa naturist zone
Vera Playa hosts one of Europe's largest naturist coastal areas, with roughly 2 km of Mediterranean coastline officially dedicated to naturism. The zone is delimited, legally recognised, and has been maintained by the Vera town hall since the 1980s.
Fine sand, a warm sea from May through October, and a diverse community — families, couples, solo travellers and groups from across Europe. It is not a closed resort but a stretch of coast and urbanisation where naturism is fully woven into everyday life.
When to visit
Vera Playa enjoys over 320 sunny days a year. Summer (June–September) is ideal for swimming and sunbathing: sea temperature 22–25 °C, long days and a lively atmosphere.
Spring and autumn (April–May and October–November) offer 20–27 °C, fewer crowds and cheaper accommodation — excellent for longer stays.
Winters are mild (15–20 °C during the day) and Vera Playa is one of the few year-round active naturist destinations in Europe.
Restaurants and beach bars
Within and around the naturist zone you will find chiringuitos that welcome naturist guests (typically a towel on the seat is expected) and plenty of conventional restaurants a short walk or cycle away.
Cuisine is classically Mediterranean: fresh fish, paella, tapas and DO Almería wines.
How to get there
Closest airport: Almería (AEI), 1 h by car. Alternatives: Alicante-Elche (ALC) 2 h, Murcia (RMU) 1.5 h, Málaga (AGP) 3 h.
A rental car is recommended for local travel. Direct buses run from Almería city.
Is it family-friendly and beginner-friendly?
Yes. Unlike some more intense naturist resorts, Vera Playa is relaxed and family-oriented. No minimum age and no rules beyond mutual respect. Many first-time European naturists try the lifestyle here.
The community is bilingual (Spanish/English) and welcoming to newcomers.

Vera Playa Rent connects guests directly with local owners. No 15–17% Airbnb or Booking commission, no anonymous middlemen, and direct contact with someone living in the zone.
